What does an entrepreneur study?

Tuesday, October 10, 2006

I have the habit to go through the harder path first to learn as much as I can.

With Digital Photography, RAW files are better for professional work because it's the near raw sensor data of the camera. After trying to get these raw file converted correctly and working on them,  the conversion from raw to jpeg introduced 90% of the noise in the pics. (I use all linux software)

Being frustrated, I set the camera back to Large Anti-aliased jpeg format, then whamo!  Perfect pictures everytime. No noise. Now I'm excited that with the few test pics, I get achieve really great results with the lenses that I have. So all I have to do is redo all my pics. My picture counter is at 3300 shots. !!

Live and move on. At least this time, I know my pics will be much* better and will be prime time for my portfolio into stock photography. The concept is interesting. There a finite amount of work for an infinite amount of returns. For example, you take one photo that you assume that everyone wants to buy throughout time, and you can make money off it, forever. Yes, yes, yes... there is a flaw in the plan, but the force that drives the sale towards infinity is marketing. Another skill which I suck at.

In other news, I'm been reading on financial matters, starting with taxes in lieu of incorporation. The buzz is that the government loves entrepreneurs. After downloading all the pdf files the IRS website has to offer, I started to make a spreadsheet of the document number and the titles of all the files. It's  very enlightening. Especially the info about pass through entities and what things the IRS emphasises and doesn't.

There are a few thousand documents, and I started with the publications. Got a few thousand more to go.

There is a group called the VRPP, where you can qualify yourself to help prepare other people's tax returns. Interesting concept.

Apart from financials and photography, I'm looking towards the horizon for better opportunities while I'm creating my own. Putting all the bits of info together and making the initial master plan. All the good stuff, and I'll end up in bora bora (hopefully)
